About the centre

Located on beautiful Waiheke Island, the Goldwater Wine Science Centre is home to the University's Wine Science programme.

The programme uses winemaking experiences in New Zealand to highlight the many potential careers available in Wine Science. Wine Science is more than simply winemaking. Our courses examine the science of grape production and winemaking and the analytical techniques while also allowing winemaking students to learn about the organisation and operation of the wine industry as a whole. We encourage students to pursue particular fields of interest through the completion of a research project in Wine Science and by taking relevant specialised courses in related departments.

Our lecturers and researchers are highly talented people who are passionate about grape-growing and winemaking and thrilled to be part of New Zealand’s dynamic modern wine industry.

Our students come from many countries around the world. The education and experience they receive here in Auckland give them the ability to choose from great career opportunities in New Zealand and abroad.

So come and join us to live, study and work on beautiful Waiheke Island to either begin your career or upgrade your skills in this vibrant industry.
